Learn how East & Westbrook is masterfully building foundations for distillers throughout the state of Kentucky.
Kentuckians are very sure on where we stand as a people; we have the fastest horses, the best fried chicken and the only bourbon. Two of those feats are anchored to our state’s limestone foundation. The same water that quenches the likes of American Pharoah is also a secret ingredient in our bourbon. True bourbon, as the locals see it, can only be made in Kentucky of course.
That's where East & Westbrook comes into the picture. Headquartered in the Bluegrass State, E&W’s team of construction experts regularly tackle distillery concrete and construction projects with a variety of both local and internationally known brands. We masterfully build foundations for master distillers. Below are a few examples of work we have recently done for top-shelf clients
“First making of fine bourbon took place at the National Historic Landmark Woodford Reserve Distillery in 1812.” Woodford Reserve is a brand of premium small batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford, Kentucky by the Brown-Forman Corporation.
“A family tradition since 1795.” Jim Beam is a brand of bourbon whiskey produced in Clermont, Kentucky, by Beam Suntory. It is one of the best selling brands of bourbon in the world including names such as Maker’s Mark. Since 1795 (interrupted by Prohibition), seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in whiskey production for the company that produces the brand, which was given the name "Jim Beam" in 1933 in honor of James B. Beam, who rebuilt the business after Prohibition ended.
Diageo is known in the Bluegrass State for Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey but holds many of the world’s best-selling beverages and sells its products in over 180 countries. “Diageo was created in 1997 but our business is built on the principles and foundations laid years before by giants of the industry – Arthur Guinness, John Walker, Elizabeth Cumming and many more.”
Distillery construction is often similar to the work we do in heavy industrial environments, making our team feel right at home. As such, these jobs require a high level of safety and accuracy, careful attention to detail, and skillful employees who react quickly to shifting changes and demands throughout potentially lengthy projects, or within a compressed time frame. Distillery projects also require coordination of a range of work from foundations through process piping & MEP. Additionally, typical distillery foundations and slabs are quite substantial and heavily reinforced to withstand the loads of large tanks and process equipment.
The East & Westbrook team is very proud to play such a vital role in the creation and preservation of new and existing distilleries around Kentucky. From working with names such as Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace and many key cooperages, East & Westbrook does its part to preserve one of the state’s greatest traditions.
