East & Westbrook’s 2025 Safety Summit focused on the ways E&W’s team goes "Above & Beyond" when it comes to workplace safety. E&W continues to improve their already stellar safety statistics in pursuit of the goal of everyone on their team going home safely every single day.

Above & Beyond: East & Westbrook's 2025 Safety Summit

Safety is, and will always be, a top priority at East & Westbrook (E&W). To recognize this ongoing commitment to ensuring everyone goes home safe at the end of each day, E&W selected Above & Beyond as the theme for 2025’s Safety Summit.

By celebrating safety successes and outlining new approaches to safety that will further reduce safety incidents, the annual Safety Summit applauds E&W team members' efforts. In addition, it offers workshops for practical safety training so team members have even more opportunities to go above and beyond when keeping each other safe on the job.

East & Westbrook’s Safety Summit: A History

East & Westbrook (E&W) started holding formal annual safety training in the office in 2014, expanding that effort into the first themed Safety Summit in 2018, with the theme “Good to Great.” This first theme set the tone for safety efforts for E&W. The goal for E&W is that safety training, PPE, safety equipment, and workplace safety culture at E&W will never just be “good” but will continually improve until it can be considered “great.”

2024 Safety Statistics at E&W: From Early Interventions to OSHA Reportables

E&W captures safety performance statistics on multiple fronts to provide detailed feedback on their robust safety measures. They were proud to report to their team at 2025’s Safety Summit that overall, from early interventions to OSHA reportables, 2024 showed improved safety statistics over the already best-in-class statistics from previous years.

In 2024 E&W maintained a reportable incident record that is 650% lower than the industry standard of 2.5 incidents per 100 employees. When you consider the fact that E&W team members put in 682,000 man-hours on work sites in 2024, this low incident rate lends credence to the ability of E&W team members to go above and beyond in safety. E&W still believes a year with zero reportable incidents is possible, and that remains the goal for 2025.

Safe job sites set clients up for success

E&W prioritizes safety first and foremost to ensure their invaluable team members get home safely at the end of every work day. But does a broad scale safety culture have any other benefits?

E&W’s safety standards don’t just prevent injury for team members. Customer personnel on the work site and members of the public near the work site are both protected from injury. When E&W says they want everyone to go home safely at the end of the day, that value goes above & beyond just protecting their team.

Preventing injury also ensures projects get completed on time and on budget. A robust safety culture on work sites, where even subcontractors are trained on E&W’s rigorous safety protocols, keeps teams on track by preventing lost-time injuries. When a team is slowed down by workers recovering from injuries it can derail timelines, costing customers time and money.

Finally, E&W’s safety standards also prevent property and equipment damage. Protecting existing infrastructure and ensuring equipment is usable at all times eliminates potential delays and prevents costly accidents from blowing project budgets.

Looking Ahead: Above & Beyond in Safety For 2025

In 2025, E&W has set their sights on exceeding 2024 safety statistics, including encouraging “good catch” reports above monthly benchmarks and ensuring safety procedures reduce 2025 property damage and reportable incidents beyond previous statistics.

E&W’s safety measures are set up not only to save time and money by avoiding expensive repairs, delays from damaged equipment, and lost time from worker injuries but also to meet their #1 company value: send everyone home safely at the end of each day. That value has been foundational to E&W’s success, and in 2025, the goal is to go Above & Beyond in building a workplace culture that continues to put people first, always.
